Milk
When compared to the multiple retailers, the foodservice market is highly fragmented. Even if they control their own distribution, caterers find it difficult to achieve really low prices because of lack of scale. So – never being one for accepting the status quo – Tony Bartrum set about changing that.
He piloted a unique collaboration of leading catering businesses that resulted in over 20m litres of milk being taken to market. As a result the members reduced their price into distribution by over 17%.
Never one for resting on his laurels, Tony has now introduced a full programme of commodity collaborations covering a wide variety of food and non-food areas, from Oil to Chips and from Shell Eggs to Hygiene Paper.
And of course, Tony is already searching for the next great idea.
