Managing the purchasing data from eight different hotel companies, merging it all to create a single entity, evaluating supplier bids, and then interpreting those bids back to each of the eight members is no mean feat. But then Chris Clare likes a challenge!

Chris used his considerable analytical talents on the data manipulation for The Mayfair Buying Group, a collaboration of businesses that delivered well over £1m in annualised improvement by pointing their business to market as a single entity.

The process not only created a much larger pot of business for wholesalers and distributors, but in many cases enabled deals to be delivered deeper into the supply chain with manufacturers, processors and brand owners – deals that would not have been available to individual members alone.

And as Chris knows, the key to success lies in attention to detail with the data.
